The Three Valleys (Trois Vallées) is a group of interconnected ski resorts that make up the world's largest alpine ski area, and Courchevel is the largest and most famous of these resorts. Courchevel's 60 lifts give skiers and snowboarders access to 90 miles of alpine trails, encompassing 10 peaks at over 1,500 miles in altitude.

Originally a playground for a few shepherds, it has become a dazzlingly successful resort. And for good reason, it is one of the most innovative resorts with its state-of-the-art equipment and innovative facilities.

Ideally located in the heart of the Alps, the resort offers exceptional panoramas between snowy slopes and dense forests. It also offers a variety of activities: mountaineering, canyoning, mountain biking and much more!

Courchevel has 6 typical villages that will plunge you into different worlds. From the original village full of authenticity " Saint-Bon ", to the typical mountain village " Courchevel Le Praz ", passing by the secret " Courchevel La Tania ", the family " Courchevel Village ", the dynamic " Courchevel Moriond " and the exceptional " Courchevel 1850 ", the famous resort will leave its mark on your mind !

2. VAL-THORENS

Famous resort of the 3 Valleys area, Val Thorens is famous for its joviality and its nightlife but not only. The resort is also and above all the highest in Europe and the highest point of the 3 Valleys area. The largest ski area in the world with more than 370 miles of slopes, Val Thorens is also known for the impeccable quality of its snow and a wide range of activities.

In addition to traditional skiing, you can try ice diving, paragliding, zip-lining, go-karting, outdoor yoga and much more! After a day full of emotions, you can relax in a spa in the heart of a sports and well-being center.

Exceptional nature, unusual activities, top-of-the-range equipment and a friendly atmosphere! Much more than a ski resort, Val Thorens is a way of life. Whether you are with your family, friends or lovers, you are sure to enjoy your ski holiday in one of the best resorts in France.

With its exceptional panoramic view and its valley labeled "Family Plus", this charming mountain village is ideal for family vacations and nature lovers. It is particularly well suited to children, with two different areas for beginners, both equipped with free lifts.

4. VAL D’ISERE

A world-renowned resort since the middle of the 20th century, Val d'Isère offers a unique ski area and panoramas. A land of champions - from Henri Oreiller to Clément Noël to Christine Goitschel - the resort immerses the visitor in an atmosphere of authenticity and excellence. More than 20 black runs challenge the experts, but it's the superb off-piste that brings extreme skiers to Val d'Isere. The 45-degree north face of Pramecou and the snowfields above the Tigne timberline are favorites of experts. Val d'Isere is full of restaurants and accommodations close to the lifts. The altitude, combined with heavy snowfall and the largest artificial snowmaking capacity in Europe, means a long ski season with optimal conditions; skiing on the Pisaillas glacier usually extends the season into June.

Grab your skis and hit the 180-mile slopes. If you are motivated, the famous Face de Bellevarde is waiting for you!

If you don't want to get up high just to put on your skis, this renowned resort - among the best in France - offers a variety of outdoor activities and a popular, upscale après-ski for a guaranteed good time. If you come with your family, you should know that the resort also benefits from the "Famille Plus" label and the youngest ones will be able to enjoy several quality play areas.

5. CHAMONIX

It's no surprise that the ski area on the slopes of the highest mountain in the Alps is known as expert territory. Chamonix is on the 15,000-feet Mont Blanc and, adding to its legendary status, was the site of the first Winter Olympics. Early Olympians may recognize the breathtaking scenery, but not the world-class infrastructure that has since grown up around it.

Although Chamonix is known - and rightly so - for its superb expert terrain and off-piste skiing, that doesn't mean that all skiers can't find enough snow. A high-altitude location, aided by the cooling effect of four glaciers, gives it some of the best snow conditions in the Alps.

Chamonix spans several ski villages, and the best beginner terrain is found at Le Tour, at the northern end of the Domaine de Balme valley, where the gentle slopes are perfect for beginners. The gentle family-friendly trails of Les Houches wind through the forests.

But Chamonix really shines in expert terrain. The expert runs at Grands Montets offer the most vertical drop in the world. The Verte run, used for World Cup races, is 2.5 miles of steep slopes and jumps.

Chamonix is known as one of the most glamorous resorts, and you can live in luxury at the magnificent Grand Hotel des Alpes. But smaller places like the Hotel de l'Arve or the chalet-style Auberge du Manoir offer budget rooms and warm hospitality. A train and frequent bus service will take you anywhere in the valley, so no matter where you stay, you'll have access to all the terrain and facilities.
