Private Class Policies

The Alliance Française of San Francisco, as a community-supported and locally-run nonprofit cultural center, wishes you to have a very positive experience, both as a student and as a member.

Please note the following important policies.

The Alliance Française de San Francisco reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. Please check the latest information posted herein to inform yourself of any changes.

Terms and conditions

Class times are decided by the student and the teacher. Different rates apply for classes held off the Alliance Française premises, for semi-private classes, and for exam-prep packages.
The first hour of lessons with a new teacher will be dedicated to evaluate the level of the class, the objectives of the course, the expected progression and the method that will best suit the student.
The student decides the content of the classes. Make sure to let our Pedagogical Director and your instructor know of your class content requirements in advance to ensure the best preparation.

PAYMENT & Class package

Payment must be completed BEFORE the first class.

Payment can be made by check to Alliance Française (mailed or dropped off 1345 Bush street San Francisco CA 94109) or debit/ credit card (Visa or MasterCard). Our payment system is not Amex compatible.

The Alliance Française de San Francisco requests that you purchase a minimum of 12 hours of instruction at the time of registration. We also offer smaller exam-prep packages at a higher rate.

For your first class with a new teacher we offer a 1h trial class. The membership is not required for the trial class. After this first class, you will be required to purchase a 12 hrs package to continue.

Mandatory membership

We now require a valid one-year membership to the Alliance Française to purchase private classes. However you can purchase the first one-hour trial private class without an active membership. Membership benefits include access to the library and to social and cultural events, as well as other various promotions.

24-HRS minimum cancellation notice

In case of cancellation, a minimum 24-hour notice is required; otherwise, the entire duration of the missed class is forfeited and due.

Expiration

Purchased private classes are valid for 1 calendar year starting from the date of purchase and will be expire automatically. No extension will be provided.

Credits from private classes are also valid for 1 calendar year from the date of purchase.

Refunds

No refunds will be given for private classes, but the amount corresponding of the remaining hours may be transferred as a credit valid 1 year (from the date of purchase of the private classes) upon agreement to be used towards the purchase of group classes, workshops or transferred to another student.
