Marie-Sophie de Carrière, a teacher of History,
Geography, and Civic Education, is offering courses, developed according to
French methodology, in a relaxed atmosphere -- a condition essential to
effective work and learning.
- Study Skills for For Elementary School, Middle School, And High School Students of french at all levels:
Methodology & Objectives
- Elementary School/Middle School:
- Achievement of all academic requirements introduced in Middle School
- Learning study skills
More specifically, in order to pass the Brevet and prepare for entrance into
secondary school:
- Learning to self-assess one's academic strengths and weaknesses
- Learning the methodology of argumentation (through regular training,
attentive correction-making and application of teacher commentary).
- High School:
Types of exercises: reading comprehension (synthesis questions and summary),
essay, text analysis and research paper.
- Introduction (Presentation of subject, explanation of outline)
- Thesis (training in how to find a thesis, and how to develop it correctly)
- Outline (learning to construct an outline, and to argue it
successfully)
- Guidance and exercises on how to edit
- Guidance on how to progress
- Introduction of clear objectives
- Knowing what is expected from teachers
Method for oral presentations will also be explained.
