Our afterschools programs are designed for kids between 7 and 12, fluent readers.

  • Beginner (Wednesday): to learn the basics in French based on the book Les Loustics 1.
  • Intermediate (Monday):  If your child already has one or two years of French with a good basic foundation. This class is based on Les Loustics 2.
  • Advanced (Tuesday). If your child already has two  or more years of French with an intermediate level. This class is based on Les Loustics 3.

We also offer a specific class :

  •  Learn to read and Write in French (Thursdays) for kids between 5 and 7, fluent in French

If your kid is under 7 and not Fluent in French, please check our Saturday classes.

These programs are activity based, adapted to each age group. Students are presented
with various activities (games, songs, role-playing etc.) as a means of
encouraging them to speak French.

We offer different classes on Saturdays depending on the age and French proficiency.

  • Kids not yet enrolled in kindergarden
    • Learn and play in French with your Kid Level 1 based on games (Parent and Child class)
    • Learn and play in French with your Kid Level 2 based on stories (Parent and Child class)- intermediate to advanced French proficiency.  4 to 5 years old, for kids speaking French at home or able to say full sentences in French on a variety of subjects.
  • Kids already enrolled in kindergarden
    • Fun in French level 1  for kids between 6 and 9, Beginners. Using Les loustics 1.

The Alliance Française provides customized private one-on-one and semi-private (up to 3 students) instruction -either in person, or online- with fully qualified native French teachers. Start at any time and benefit from flexible scheduling and personalized instruction.

This program provides schedule flexibility for individuals who cannot attend our regular classes and can be tailored to meet your specific needs.  We trust that you will keep us informed should you have any questions, concerns or comments regarding the instruction you are receiving, your assigned teacher, or scheduling.

We offer a special rate for 10h package.

 

Please note that private classes for kids are only available in our premises at this time. 

You can have your lessons at the Alliance Française, online or at your place (mainly San Francisco).

We require that you inform us 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel a class.  

Students receive a complimentary one-year AF basic membership with unlimited free access to our library, our E-library (Culturethèque) and discounts to our cultural events.

 

Private Lessons Advantages

  • Instruction available for adults, kids, and teens at all levels of proficiency
  • Lessons may be taken one-on-one or in groups of two or three (we don’t organize these groups)

For several years, the Alliance Française of San Francisco has offered afterschool programs in public schools.

We have a great program based on the method Les loustics, and  we also incorporate games, songs, videos, and crafts so that kids will have fun while learning French.

Our French native teachers welcome all children in a happy, caring and relaxed atmosphere.

Morning activities are focused primarily on language skills. We combine direct instruction, small-group work, and one-on-one learning in a way that works for your child. Our teachers respect every individual rhythm and personality, and make sure that everyone enjoys their camp activities. 

Afternoon activities are designed to give the children multiple ways to express their creativity and to learn and develop new skills.  Afternoon activities include visual and performing arts, games, and more surprises!
